ólöf arnalds.

this is my fourth music article on Ombre nel Cielo and it is about time to talk about an icelandic musician: I in fact adore a numerous amount of icelandic artists.

if you too are greedily following the icelandic music scene, you must know that Sigur Rós just recently announced they will be starting a new tour. today though I will be talking about someone that you may haven’t heard about yet: Ólöf Arnalds.

Ólöf Arnalds is a well known singer-songrwiter in Iceland not only because of her own music, but also because she is being touring with Múm since 2003, beside collaborating with many other artists.

you should know by now that I am fascinated the most by female vocalists and Ólöf has the most soft and pure voice ever: especially when she sings in icelandic, it takes just one song to create an incredible dreamy atmosphere.

in her first solo album Við Og Við (2007), Ólöf sings only in icelandic and in Innundir Skinni (2010) most of the lyrics are in icelandic too: it works magically combined with icelandic folk musical instruments.

the most recent album Ólöf Sings was released in 2011: it is a mini album where Ólöfbeautifully performs covers of some world famous artists – such as Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash and Bruce Springsteen.

you can listen to Ólöf Sings, along with the two previous albums, on Spotify or you can visit Ólöf’s myspace page: www.myspace.com/olofarnalds.

I will leave you now with one of her videos, which I find particularly pleasant: have a good listen and enjoy the rest of your week with more Ólöf Arnalds.
